Greece to investigate major European rights group
Athens-based Human Rights 360 particularly focuses on human rights violations at border with Türkiye
By Anadolu Agency Staff
ANKARA (AA) – Greece is set to investigate a major European rights group operating in the country, local media reported on Friday.
The prosecutorial investigation intends to determine whether Human Rights 360 committed offenses such as the establishment of a criminal organization or money laundering, said Kathimerini daily.
The daily said the decision was made amid allegations of financial mismanagement by Human Rights 360 reported to the country’s money-laundering watchdog, which already frozen the accounts of persons involved in the Athens-based NGO.
The organization gets major funding from European Economic Area (EEA) Fund and Norway, it stressed.
Founded in 2017, HR 360 has focused on the rights of refugees and others, particularly human rights violations at Greece’s border with Türkiye.
