ATHENS (AA) - The Greek Cypriot administration rejected allegations that air traffic in its airspace will be suspended beginning later Friday.

Government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis wrote on X that rumors and posts circulating on the internet do not correspond to reality and flights to and from the administration are taking place as normal.

Tension has escalated between Hezbollah and Israel following a missile attack on the Druze town of Majdal Shams in Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on July 27.

Israel blamed Hezbollah for the attack but the Lebanese group denied responsibility.

The Israeli military responded by striking southern Beirut on July 30 while targeting a senior Hezbollah commander.

Hours later, the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, announced that the head of its political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated in an airstrike in Iran’s capital of Tehran.

Israel has not confirmed or denied its involvement.
