Police make 27 arrests

ATHENS (AA) - A police operation was underway early Tuesday to evict pro-Palestinian student protesters from the Athens School of Law, according to media reports.
The operation was carried out in the presence of a prosecutor with 27 people arrested -- 18 women and nine men were taken for questioning.
The students had occupied the law school building late Monday following a rally outside the University of Athens where protesters expressed opposition to Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
The Hellenic police proceeded after protesters refused to vacate the building while surrounding streets had been barricaded by police.
Protesters expressed solidarity with similar antiwar student movements across the world.
Nearly 35,100 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed since the onslaught began, and more than 78,800 injured, according to Palestinian health authorities.
Seven months into the conflict, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.
