Greek police intervene in protest for those who lost their lives in train accident
Greek Civil Servants' Confederation and General Confederation of Greek Workers called for 24-hour strike to protest Feb. 28 accident

ATHENS (AA) - Police and activists in Greece have come face to face in protests held in different cities of the country for those who lost their lives in the Feb. 28 train accident.
Greek Civil Servants' Confederation and General Confederation of Greek Workers called for a 24-hour strike to draw attention to the accident.
While many people from different sectors participated in the strike on Thursday, public transportation in the capital Athens stopped due to the strike, and flights were canceled.
Thousands of activists that gathered in Athens marched to the parliament building at Syntagma Square. Police responded with tear gas to a group of protesters who threw stones and Molotov cocktails at the police.
A group of activists attacked the parked car of Olga Yerovasili, a deputy of the main opposition party SYRIZA, who participated in the protest. As a result of the attack, the windows of the car were broken, and the guard police of Yerovasili were slightly injured.
During the train accident protests in Thessaloniki and Patra, a clash broke out between the police and the protesters, and the police intervened with tear gas.
