Greek premier meets with Bulgarian president, Moldovan counterpart to discuss bilateral ties

ATHENS (AA) – Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the Bulgarian president and his Moldovan counterpart in Athens to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.

Mitsotakis expressed his pleasure in hosting Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, saying the meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm cordial bilateral relations, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office.

They reviewed bilateral relations and discussed issues of European interest, following last week's European Council meeting, the statement added.

According to Bulgaria's state-run BTA news agency, both leaders discussed the need to urgently ramp up work on strategic projects between the two countries, such as the LNG terminal in the northern Greek port city of Alexandroupolis, which Radev said should be operational by October.

During Mitsotakis' meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Dorin Recean earlier in the day, the Greek premier assured Moldova of his country's support and offered technical assistance in the EU accession process.

Thanking Greece, Recean, for his part, said, “We firmly believe that a bigger Europe means a stronger, more peaceful and more prosperous Europe.”
