Gulf Cooperation Council renews Jasem Albudaiwi's term as secretary-general
‘This is in appreciation of his great efforts and effective contribution to strengthening the Council's progress,’ says GCC

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) decided to renew the term of Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi for an additional three years at a summit in Kuwait on Sunday.
In a final statement issued by the Supreme Council in its 45th Session, it decided to “renew the appointment of His Excellency Mr. Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi as Secretary-General of the GCC for another three years, starting February 1, 2026.”
“This is in appreciation of his great efforts and effective contribution to strengthening the Council's progress, wishing him success in his duties during the coming period,” it said.
“The Supreme Council expressed its welcome for the United Arab Emirates to preside over its forty-sixth session and looked forward to the forty-sixth summit being held in Abu Dhabi,” the statement added.
The summit, chaired by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, was attended by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Bahraini Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Omani Deputy Prime Minister Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said.
