Gunmen in Ecuador blow themselves up after forgetting grenade in their car as they flee

6 gunmen accidentally left grenade in their vehicle, which subsequently detonated as they tried to escape

BOGOTA, Colombia (AA) - In the northern region of Ecuador, a shocking incident unfolded as four gunmen died while trying to flee.

They forgot that they had a grenade inside their car and it exploded, according to local media.

A total of six gunmen attempted to escape following an attack on a house in the state of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas.

In their haste to escape, they forgot about a hand grenade that detonated inside their car.

As a result, four gunmen died at the scene, while two others sustained severe injuries.

Security camera footage captured the harrowing moments when the assailants, having fired upon the targeted house, hurriedly entered their vehicle.

Reports in the Ecuadorian press indicated that the incident occurred on Sept. 4.
