Half of travelers want to take trip again amid COVID-19

ANKARA (AA) - Half of the travelers are eager to take a trip within the next three months, attributing to a strong level of confidence in the environment safety provided by airports and airlines, a survey revealed on Wednesday.

Airports Council International (ACI) World said passengers expected that new measures are put in place to address health risks stemming from the coronavirus pandemic and to develop a more contactless airport experience.

The ACI’s survey found a slight decrease in overall travel frequency is expected and a shift in the main reason to travel, with slightly less for business, and more for personal reasons.

Luis Felipe de Oliveira, ACI world director general, pointed out airports, airlines and their partners need to continue to increase the level of confidence in passenger journey, and provide and communicate the measures they are introducing to keep passenger healthy and safe.

After first appearing in the Chinese city of Wuhan last December, the virus has spread to at least 190 countries and regions.

The global death toll from the virus has hit over 1.21 million with more than 47.44 million confirmed cases and over 31.63 million recoveries, according to the US-based Johns Hopkins University.
