BEIRUT, Lebanon (AA) – Hamas’ armed wing in Lebanon on Sunday claimed responsibility for several rocket attacks on northern Israel.
In a statement, "Al-Qassam Brigades - Lebanon" said that the rocket attacks on the city of Haifa and the towns of Shlomi and Nahariya came in response to the “occupation (forces’) massacres and its aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip.”
According to Anadolu's correspondent, Israel responded with shelling and airstrikes on Lebanese border areas from where the rockets were believed to have been launched.
Lebanon's National News Agency reported that “Israeli enemy artillery is targeting the areas of Al-Mushayrifah and Al-Labouneh, located on the outskirts of the town of Naqoura in southern Lebanon.”
The agency said that “the alarm sirens were activated at the UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura, southern Lebanon.”
Earlier, the Lebanese Hezbollah group stated that it “targeted the Zar’it barracks, an Israeli site on the Lebanese border, with artillery shells.”
Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced that seven of its soldiers sustained minor injuries earlier today as a result of mortar shells that targeted Al-Manara area.
In the meantime, the Israeli emergency service also said that 10 Israelis were injured following missile strikes in the Upper Galilee region, near the Lebanese border.
