Hamas says Israeli prisoner killed, 2 others injured by Al-Qassam guards

Al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obeida says committee formed to investigate incident, will announce details later

By Anadolu staff

GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - The armed wing of Palestinian resistance group Hamas said on Monday that an Israeli prisoner was killed and two other female prisoners injured in two separate gunfire incidents from their guards.

In a statement, Al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obeida said: "In two separate incidents, two guards assigned to protect the enemy (Israeli) prisoners opened fire on a Zionist (Israeli) prisoner and killed him immediately, in addition to the serious injury of two female prisoners."

He added that "attempts are being made to save the two injured prisoners."

Abu Obeida said "a committee was formed to investigate the incident and will announce the details later."

The announcement comes after the Israeli army committed seven massacres in the past 10 days against seven shelters across the Gaza Strip and left over 179 Palestinians killed.

Commenting on the statement, the Israel Army says it has no intelligence to confirm Hamas’ report.

Israel believes that around 110 Israeli captives are being held in Gaza in Hamas captivity.

Flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire, Israel has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive on Gaza since an attack last October by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.

Nearly 40,000 Palestinians have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 92,000 others injured, according to local health authorities.

Over 10 months into the Israeli war, vast tracts of Gaza lie in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which ordered it to immediately halt its military operation in the southern city of Rafah, where more than 1 million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war before it was invaded on May 6.
