Head of Chinese parliament arrives in Russia

MOSCOW (AA) - The head of China's parliament arrived in Russia on Tuesday to participate in a meeting of the Russian-Chinese Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation.

The chairman of China's Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Zhao Leji, will also attend the BRICS Parliamentary Forum's economic bloc, the press service of Russia's lower chamber of parliament, the State Duma, said in a statement.

Zhao is visiting Moscow at the invitation of the head of the Russian State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin. The two officials will hold an informal meeting on Tuesday evening.

On July 10, Volodin and Zhao will continue their discussions at official events, including bilateral talks and the ninth meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National People's Congress.

Zhao Leji will then travel to St. Petersburg to participate in the BRICS Parliamentary Forum on July 11-12.
