Hezbollah attacks Israeli military barracks in occupied Golan Heights using drones

Lebanon-based group also says targeting Iron Dome radar resulted in casualties among Israeli soldiers

BEIRUT (AA) – Lebanese group Hezbollah said on Sunday that it had attacked Israeli military barracks in Syria’s occupied Golan Heights using drones.

In a statement, the group said its fighters launched "an air attack with a squadron of assault drones on the headquarters of the Military Gathering Battalion in the Yarden barracks in the occupied Golan Heights opposite the Lebanese border."

The attack also targeted Iron Dome radar and resulted in casualties among Israeli soldiers, it added.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army claimed that “fighter jets attacked a Hezbollah military structure in the Bint Jbeil area, alongside the organization's headquarters in the Kana and Rashit areas in southern Lebanon.”

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that “during the night, Israeli forces launched an airstrike on the southern city of Bint Jbeil.”

“The attack targeted Al-Nabiyah Square, where two air-to-surface missiles were dropped, resulting in significant damage to infrastructure,” it added.

Tension has risen along the border between Lebanon and Israel, with intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-fledged war in 2006.

The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip that has killed nearly 36,400 people since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year.
