Hezbollah fires barrage of rockets on Israeli settlement
Lebanese group says it targeted Dafna settlement for 1st time
By Stephanie Rady
BEIRUT (AA) - Lebanese Hezbollah group Saturday announced that it targeted the Israeli settlement of Dafna for the first time “with dozens of Katyusha rockets.”
In a statement, Hezbollah said that its members “included the Dafna settlement in the list of targets for the first time and bombarded it with dozens of Katyusha rockets.”
It indicated that the targeting of the Dafna settlement is “in response to the attack on civilians in the town of Borj El Mluok in southern Lebanon.”
Earlier, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that “an Israeli drone targeted an empty four-wheel-drive vehicle in the outskirts of southern Borj El Mluok, injuring a number of Syrians with rocket shrapnel.”
It said that among the injured were “children who were near the tent they live in.”
As of yet, there has been no comment from the Israeli military on Hezbollah's targeting of the settlement.
Fears have grown of a full-fledged war between Israel and Hezbollah amid an exchange of cross-border attacks.
The escalation comes against the backdrop of a deadly Israeli onslaught on Gaza, which has killed over 38,900 people since last October, following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
