Death toll of Hezbollah fighters killed by Israeli forces since Oct. 8 rises to 97

BEIRUT (AA) - The Lebanese Hezbollah group on Friday mourned three more fighters who were killed in border clashes with the Israeli army.
Hezbollah issued a statement identifying the fighters as Hasan Daqouq, Ali Salman and Hussein Taha.
The statement did not specify what mission the fighters were carrying out when they were targeted but said they were killed "on the road to Jerusalem," in reference to Hezbollah’s efforts in support of the Palestinian resistance, who are facing Israel’s devastating onslaught against Gaza.
The death toll of Hezbollah fighters killed by Israeli forces since Oct. 8 has risen to 97, according to previous statements by the group.
The toll for Lebanese civilians killed by the Israeli army during the same period stands at 23, including three journalists and three children.
On Friday, Hezbollah and the Israeli army exchanged fire across the border areas between them, which has been taking place on a daily basis since Oct. 8 and stopped only when a week-long humanitarian pause in the fighting in Gaza came into effect between Nov. 23 and Dec. 1.
Tensions have flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.
The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7.
