Hezbollah says it targeted 6 Israeli military sites on Lebanese border

Lebanese group targets gatherings of Israeli soldiers near border

By Naim Berjawi

BEIRUT (AA) - Hezbollah said Saturday it targeted six military sites and gatherings of Israeli soldiers near the border between Lebanon and Israel, while Israeli strikes continued against several towns in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese group said in a statement that its members “targeted the Zabdine barracks and the Rweisat Al-Alam site in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa farms with rocket weapons and achieved direct hits.”

Hezbollah also targeted the Ramia Israeli site and a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the vicinity of the Dahayra site.

A separate statement said the group’s members “targeted a gathering of Israeli enemy soldiers on the Cobra Hill with volcano rockets and inflicted direct hits.”

Witnesses reported Israeli artillery shelling that targeted areas in southern Lebanon, including the outskirts of the towns of Rachaya Al-Foukhar and Kafr Hamam in the Hasbaiyya district.

Israeli shelling also targeted, according to witnesses, the outskirts of Jebbayn in the district of Tyre in southern Lebanon, while warplanes carried out raids on Rab El Thalathine, Aita Al-Shaab and Blida.

In the context of a devastating Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip, which led Tel Aviv to stand trial before the International Court of Justice on charges of “genocide,” the Israeli-Lebanese border has witnessed exchanges of fire since Oct. 8, between the Israeli army on one side and Hezbollah and Palestinian factions on the other, resulting in fatalities and injuries on both sides of the border.

Threats from Israeli officials to expand attacks on Lebanese territory have recently escalated, unless Hezbollah fighters withdraw from the borders with northern Israel.
