BEIRUT - JERUSALEM (AA) - Hezbollah said Monday that it targeted a building used by Israeli soldiers in northern Israel.

The group said in a statement that it targeted a building used by Israeli soldiers in the Margaliot settlement with “appropriate weaponry,” claiming to have achieved “confirmed results.”

Israeli Channel 12 reported on the incident early Monday, saying that an anti-tank missile fired from Lebanon hit a building in the town of Margaliot.

As of yet, there has been no comment from the Israeli army on Hezbollah's statement on the attack.

Earlier on Monday, Hezbollah said in another statement that it targeted Israeli forces at the Al-Malkiyya site with artillery shells late Sunday night.

Lebanon’s official news agency reported that Israel launched a significant number of illumination flares over villages in the districts of Tyre and Bint Jbeil late Sunday.

The agency added that Israel fired a number of interception missiles over the villages of Naqoura, Alma ash Shab, Tayr Harfa, and Al-Dhaira in the western sector of southern Lebanon after midnight.

In a related development, the army said in a statement that a Sky Rider unmanned aerial vehicle was downed in the Lebanese territory.

The statement added that the army is conducting an investigation into the incident, and that there is no concern about information leakage.

The Israeli military typically uses this type of drone for intelligence.

There has been no comment from Lebanon regarding the drone crash as of yet.

Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip that has killed nearly 36,000 people since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year.
