Hezbollah says it targeted Israeli military sites along southern border of Lebanon

Lebanese group targets Ramtha, al-Summaqa, Malkia, Baghdadi sites

BEIRUT (AA) – Lebanese group Hezbollah said on Saturday that it targeted Israeli military sites along the southern border of Lebanon.

In separate statements, Hezbollah said its fighters targeted the Ramtha and al-Summaqa sites in the occupied Lebanese hills of Kfar Shuba with missile weapons, resulting in “direct hits.”

Hezbollah fighters also targeted the Malkia site with mortar shells, and the Baghdadi site with missile weapons, the Lebanese group added.

The Lebanese group also mentioned that its fighters targeted the Ramim barracks with rockets, “hitting it directly.”

Lebanon’s National News Agency reported Israel’s artillery targeted the “town of Al-Jebbayn with several shells, most of which hit residential neighborhoods in the town, causing significant damage.”

Several border towns in southern Lebanon were also subjected to Israeli shelling, including the outskirts of Hula - Khallet al-Ballout, Blat Mt. near Marwahin, and the plains of Marjeyoun, the agency added.

Recently, there have been escalating threats from Israeli officials to expand attacks on Lebanese territory unless Hezbollah fighters withdraw from the borders with northern Israel.

Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of weapons fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

Hostilities escalated as Israel continued its military offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed over 31,500 civilians since a cross-border incursion by the Palestinian group Hamas last October.
