Hezbollah says it targeted Israeli soldiers in northern Israeli settlement
Israel says fighter jets strike Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon
By Naim Burjawi
BEIRUT (AA) - Hezbollah said Saturday that it targeted several Israeli soldiers inside a home in the settlement of Metula in northern Israel.
The Lebanese group said it inflicted direct casualties among Israeli soldiers.
It added that the attack was in response to the Israeli killing of Lebanese civilians in recent days.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army claimed no injuries to its soldiers from the attack by Hezbollah and said fighter jets struck a number of sites belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
Border clashes in the past three weeks have been the deadliest since Hezbollah and Israel fought a full-scale war in 2006, when the group struck major Israeli cities with rockets, causing significant damage.
The border tension comes as Israel widened air and ground operations in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Israeli border towns on Oct. 7.
“The death toll as a result of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7 is 9,500, including 3,900 children and 2,509 women,” Salama Marouf, the head of the Gaza Media Office, said at a news conference.
Nearly 1,540 Israelis have been killed.
