Houthi group claims attacking Israeli 'military targets' with cruise missiles

Quds-5 cruise missiles 'successfully hit their target,' says group spokesman

By Anadolu staff

The Yemeni Houthi group on Wednesday claimed attacking Israeli "military targets" with cruise missiles amid ongoing regional tensions as Israel escalates its attacks on Gaza and Lebanon.

In a statement, group's military spokesman Yahya Saree announced attacking military targets "in the depth of the Zionist entity (Israel) with three Quds-5 cruise missiles."

The statement claimed that the missiles "successfully hit their target," but didn't specify when.

The Israeli authorities are yet to comment on the Houthi announcement.

The Houthi attack comes following a major missile attack by Iran on Tuesday night on Israeli targets, which said it was in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, and an Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander.

Haniyeh was killed in a strike during a visit to Tehran in late July, while the IRGC commander and Nasrallah were killed on Friday.

Regional tensions have escalated due to Israel’s brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed over 41,600 people, mostly women and children, following a Hamas attack last October.

The conflict spread to Lebanon with Israel launching deadly strikes across the country, which have killed more than 1,073 people and injured nearly 3,000 others since Sept. 23.
