Houthi group reports 3 US-UK airstrikes in western Yemen

Attacks target Al-Taif area in Ad Durayhimi district of Al-Hudaydah province

By Mohammed Sameai

SANAA, Yemen (AA) - The Yemeni Houthi group reported three new US-UK airstrikes Wednesday against sites in the western province of Al Hudaydah.

Houthi-run Al-Masirah television said the attacks targeted the Al-Taif area in the Ad Durayhimi district of the province.

No information was provided about casualties or damage.

There was no comment from the US or UK.

Al Hudaydah is a major province with three vital ports and a long coastal strip.

Earlier Wednesday, Al-Masirah TV reported that "the American-British aggression targeted with four airstrikes the government complex in Algabin district of Raymah province in western Yemen.”

Since the beginning of 2024, a coalition led by the US has been conducting airstrikes that it said are targeting Houthi locations in Yemen in response to attacks by the group in the Red Sea. The counterattacks have been occasionally met with retaliation from the group.

In solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which is facing a devastating Israeli offensive, the Houthis have targeted Israeli cargo ships or those associated with Tel Aviv in the Red Sea with missiles and drones.

With the intervention of Washington and London and an escalation of tensions, the Houthis announced they now consider all American and British ships as military targets.
