YEMEN (AA) - The Yemeni Houthi group announced Friday that it has a new attack drone boat, Toufan 1, with footage showing a test on a maritime target.

It was revealed in a video broadcast by the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV channel, which was followed by an Anadolu.

The domestically-made Toufan 1 boat carries a 150-kilogram (331-pound) warhead and features high speeds of up to 35 nautical miles per hour, along with "high maneuverability and stealth capabilities," according to the video that was broadcast on the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV channel.

The boat is specialized to target nearby stationary and moving maritime targets. The video shows the boat rapidly approaching a maritime target before destroying it.

On Thursday, the Houthi group announced that their forces targeted 153 American, British, Israeli or Israel-linked ships since the start of the "Support Gaza Operations" in November.

On Wednesday, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree released a video showing what he claimed was an attack on the Tutor Greek cargo ship in the Red Sea using two drone boats that sunk the ship.

Late Tuesday, the British Navy confirmed that the Tutor sank following a Houthi drone attack on June 12.

The Houthis have been targeting Israeli or Israel-linked cargo ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones since November “in solidarity with Gaza" because of the ongoing Israeli onslaught since Oct. 7.

In response to the attacks, Washington and London have launched airstrikes and missile attacks on "Houthi sites" in Yemen since the beginning of 2024.

The Houthis responded by declaring that they consider all American and British ships as military targets, expanding their attacks to ships passing through the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean or any place within their weapon's range.
