Houthis report US-UK airstrikes in Yemen's Al-Hudaydah

SANAA, Yemen (AA) - The Houthi group said on Sunday that a US-UK coalition launched an aerial assault on the Yemeni governorate of Al-Hudaydah.

According to the Houthi-run Saba News Agency, the "American-British aggression targeted Al-Jada’ Mountain in the Al-Luhayya district of Al-Hudaydah.”

The agency did not provide details on the outcomes of the attack.

There was no official confirmation by the US or the UK.

This development follows an announcement by US Central Command (CENTCOM) late Saturday stating that it had carried out "precise" airstrikes targeting a Houthi missile storage facility and a command-and-control center in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.

On Thursday, the Houthis reported that Sanaa and locations in Al-Hudaydah were hit by 16 Israeli airstrikes.

In retaliation, the Houthis launched a ballistic missile at Tel Aviv on Saturday morning, injuring 20 people and damaging dozens of apartments, according to the Israeli daily Haaretz.

The Houthis, in solidarity with Gaza, which has been facing an Israeli genocidal war since Oct. 7, 2023, have targeted Israeli cargo ships or those associated with Tel Aviv in the Red Sea, with missiles and drones, expressing a determination to continue operations until the end of the onslaught on the enclave.

Since the beginning of 2024, a coalition led by the US has been conducting airstrikes that it said are targeting Houthi locations in parts of Yemen in response to attacks by the group in the Red Sea. The counterattacks have been occasionally met with retaliation from the group.

With the intervention of Washington and London, and an escalation of tensions, the Houthis announced that they consider all American and British ships military targets.
