By Baris Seckin
ROME (AA) - An estimated 150,000 people took to the streets Saturday in Rome to mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Organized by the civil initiative Non Una di Meno, or Not One Less, the demonstration began at the busy Ostiense Square in the city center.
Protesters walked from the Colosseum to Vittorio Emanuele Square, expressing their opposition to violence against women and patriarchal violence.
They carried banners that read: "Disarm Patriarchy."
Protesters highlighted the Gaza Strip, which is under Israeli attack, as well as Palestine, and the suffering of Palestinian women.
"Free Palestine" was frequently heard from the crowd.
