BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Hungary will send another search and rescue team comprising 46 people to quake-hit Türkiye, the foreign minister said on Tuesday.
Peter Szijjarto said Hungary will provide all kind of support to Türkiye in such a difficult time.
"Three civil rescue organizations will arrive in Türkiye with the help of the Foreign Affairs Ministry. The initial days are of great importance for rescue survivors," he added.
Budapest had earlier sent a 55-person search and rescue team affiliated with the National Disaster Management General Directorate to help with relief efforts after two earthquakes hit Türkiye's southern belt, killing over 3,500 people and wounding at least 22,000 others.
Early Monday morning, a 7.7 magnitude tremor struck the Pazarcik district of Kahramanmaras province, and about nine hours later a 7.6 magnitude quake centered in nearby Elbistan district rocked the region, also affecting Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa provinces.
The earthquake was felt in several countries in the region, including Syria and Lebanon.
