RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – Illegal Israeli settlers stole 25 sheep on Friday from a Palestinian herder in the occupied West Bank.
“Settlers attacked the Arab Mleihat community near the city of Jericho in the eastern West Bank from three axes early Friday and stole 25 sheep,” Hassan Mleihat, the General Supervisor of the Al-Baydar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights, said in a statement to Anadolu.
He added that citizens in that area, while on guard duty, felt the presence of “settler ambushes” in several directions, resulting in “clashes with the attacking settlers before they stole the sheep belonging to citizen Abdul Latif Atallah Suleiman.”
The incident comes amid escalating settlement activity in the West Bank, including the construction of settlement outposts and the establishment of new roads and barriers, since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7.
At least 517 Palestinians have since been killed and over 4,900 others injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied territory, according to the Health Ministry.
Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which in January issued an interim ruling that ordered it to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza
