ISTANBUL (AA) - The governor of Russia’s second-largest city St. Petersburg on Wednesday said an incident occurred at an industrial site in the city’s Nevsky district.
“At night, residents of neighborhoods near Glukhoozerskoye Highway heard a loud bang. An incident occurred at an industrial site in the Nevsky district that required the attention of law enforcement agencies,” Alexander Beglov said on Telegram.
There were no casualties and no significant damage to property, Beglov said, adding that investigations into the incident are currently underway.
“The city administration works in cooperation with law enforcement agencies,” Beglov further said.
Citing unnamed sources from Ukraine's special services, the RBC-Ukraine news agency claimed that the country’s Defense Intelligence was behind a drone that crashed on the territory of the Nevsky Oil Refinery.
Ukrainian officials have yet to officially confirm any involvement in the incident.
Russia and Ukraine have traded accusations over airstrikes against each other that have intensified since late December.
