ANKARA (AA) - India conducted the maiden test flight Tuesday of the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM), according to the Defense Ministry.
The test was conducted by the Defense Research and Development Organisation from the Integrated Test Range off the coast of Odisha in eastern India from a mobile articulated launcher, it said in a statement.
“During the test, all sub-systems performed as per expectation and met the primary mission objectives,” it said.
The “missile performance was monitored by several range sensors,” at different locations to ensure complete coverage of the flight path, according to the ministry.
“The missile followed the desired path using way point navigation and demonstrated its capability to perform various manoeuvres while flying at various altitudes and speeds,” said the statement.
LRLACM is “configured to launch from the ground using mobile articulated launcher and also from frontline ships using the universal vertical launch module system.”
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said it “paves the way for the future indigenous cruise missile development programmes.”
