India and Singapore on Wednesday held multi-ministerial-level talks to boost ties and review progress on bilateral initiatives.
The third India-Singapore ministerial roundtable was convened in the Indian capital New Delhi, and ministers reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation initiatives on advanced manufacturing, connectivity, digitalization, health care, skills development, and sustainability, a statement by India's External Affairs Ministry said.
“They deliberated on ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly under these six pillars, and identified a number of specific initiatives to pursue,” the ministry said.
The Singapore side was led by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, while the Indian delegation included External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Singaporean side also visited financial capital Mumbai in connection with “economic, commercial and investment engagements, including in the maritime sector.”
India views Singapore as an “important partner” in South Asian nation’s "Act East" Policy, the ministry said.
Ties between the two countries were elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Singapore in September 2024. In the 2024-25 financial year, bilateral trade stood at $34.3 billion.
