NEW DELHI (AA) - An Indian national was killed by an anti-tank missile launched from southern Lebanon into northern Israel, the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi said on Tuesday.
In a statement issued in the morning, the Israeli mission expressed "deep" shock over the death of an Indian national, blaming the attack on Monday afternoon on the Lebanon-based Hezbollah group.
According to the statement, the missile struck "peaceful agriculture workers who were cultivating an orchard at the northern village of Margaliot yesterday early afternoon."
“Israeli Medical institutions are completely at the service of the injured who are being treated by our very best medical staff,” it said.
Earlier on Monday, Israel's national ambulance service announced that one person was killed and seven others were injured in an anti-tank missile attack in northern Israel.
Israeli Army Radio said the anti-tank missile struck an orchard in Galilee in northern Israel.
Tension flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.
The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip that has killed over 30,534 people following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year.
Amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, Tel Aviv has turned to India for human labor. Several employment drives were recently held in two Indian states to recruit workers for Israel.
