International Military Sports Council holds 80th General Assembly and Congress in Sri Lanka

ISTANBUL (AA) – The 80th General Assembly and Congress of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) was held on Saturday in Sri Lanka.

The event garnered attention in the field of military sports diplomacy with the participation of chiefs of staff and senior command levels from 142 countries, according to a statement from the Turkish defense magazine A5.

Throughout the congress, intercontinental collaborations, strategic partnerships, and peace-promoting sports projects were highlighted.

The gala night of the event was hosted by CISM President Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim, CISM Secretary General Captain Roberto Recchia, and Sri Lankan Army Commander Lieutenant General B. K. G. M. L. Rodrigo.

Recchia, in his presentation titled "Strategic Partnerships," introduced A5 Magazine, CISM's media partner of the event since 2022, as a "model partnership."

The presentation used visuals to highlight A5 Magazine's content quality, strategic publishing approach, and contribution to international defense communication.

All delegations dressed in official uniforms for a ceremony at Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, Sri Lanka's National War Memorial. The event, held under the CISM principle of "Remember for Peace," conveyed a strong message of unity and solidarity.

In the statement, Ipek Ipek, the founder of A5 Magazine, said being represented as a media partner on an international platform demonstrates both the magazine’s and Türkiye’s strategic communication strength.

“With our publications delivered directly to the armed forces and defense ministries of 142 countries, we are elevating Türkiye’s defense vision to a global level,” Ipek said.
