Iraqi army foils suicide bombing, kills 2 terrorists
Daesh-linked terrorists were attempting to carry out attack in Anbar province's Al-Baghdadi district

ANBAR, Iraq (AA) - Two Daesh-linked terrorists were killed Monday as they attempted to carry out a suicide attack in Iraq’s western province of Anbar, an army officer said.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, army official Col. Walid al-Dulaimi said two Daesh suicide bombers snuck into Al-Baghdadi district located some 90 kilometers (56 miles) west of Ramadi city, the provincial capital.
“Army forces and pro-government Sunni tribal fighters (Al-Hashd al-Ashaeri) managed to besiege the two Daesh militants in Al-Shuhada neighborhood,” al-Dulaimi said, adding that security forces neutralized both terrorists.
Al-Baghdadi district includes the Ain al-Assad air base, where the U.S.-led International Coalition forces are stationed, and provide military support to Iraqi forces in fighting against Daesh.
Last December, officials in Baghdad declared that Daesh's military presence in Iraq had been all but dismantled over operations backed by the U.S.-led International Alliance. However, from time to time, Iraqi officials announce operations against Daesh-affiliated "sleeper cells" in certain parts of the country.
