Vote originally due in October 2022 delayed several times
By Bekir Aydogan
ERBIL, Iraq (AA) – The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) parliamentary elections would be held on June 10, after being postponed from February, a statement by the office of government head Nechirvan Barzani said.
The KRG parliamentary elections were originally due on Oct. 1, 2022. But due to disagreements between the two main parties, Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) over election law, the vote has been delayed several times.
Elections were rescheduled for Feb. 25 this year, but to no avail.
The parliamentary elections in the KRG should be held every four years, and the last vote was in 2018.
