Israel intercepts 'threat' south of Eilat over Red Sea
Yemen's Houthi group says it targeted Israel with ballistic missiles and drones
By Anadolu staff
JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army said Tuesday that it intercepted “another threat that apparently came from Yemen.”
The Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted an Israeli army spokesman as saying that its air defenses intercepted a threat that was detected south of Eilat over the Red Sea.
No danger to civilians was detected and no incursion into Israeli territory was discovered.
"This appears to be another shooting by the Houthis from Yemen, who are supported by Iran," the Israeli army said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the army announced that it had used the Arrow anti-ballistic missile system to intercept a surface-to-surface missile launched from the Red Sea.
For the first time, Yemen's Houthi group, which controls most of northern Yemen, announced Tuesday the launch of a large number of ballistic and winged missiles and drones at targets in Israel.
