Israel orders Palestinians to evacuate Jabalia in northern Gaza via ‘safe’ corridor

- Gaza Interior Ministry emphasizes ‘the occupation is deceiving citizens by claiming the existence of safe corridors and areas for displacement’

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Israeli army warned Palestinians to evacuate their homes Tuesday in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip and to move south via a “safe corridor.”

Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said on X that the military "is about to operate forcefully in the Jabalia area” and reiterated the demand for residents “to evacuate the area immediately and move south.”

“The forces of the 162nd division will operate vigorously in that area from the air and ground,” added Adraee, who ordered Palestinians to "leave the area and move via al-Trans Street to Salah al-Din Street only and head south."

Gaza Interior Ministry issued a statement that urged residents in northern Gaza -- Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia and Jabalia -- “not to respond to the occupation's threats to evacuate their homes and move to southern Gaza.”

It said that "the occupation is deceiving citizens by claiming the existence of safe corridors and areas for displacement, and its lies have been proven over a year of aggression against our people, executing citizens on their way to southern Gaza and deliberately targeting displacement tents multiple times."

Palestinians were killed and injured Tuesday from shelling and gunfire as the Israeli army advanced into the town and camp of Jabalia and areas in northern Gaza, marking the third such incursion since the beginning of the genocidal war that has been waged by Israel for the past year.

Israel has continued a brutal offensive on Gaza following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, last year, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

Nearly 42,000 victims have since been killed, mostly women and children, and nearly 97,600 injured, according to local health authorities.

The onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of Gaza amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
