Palestinian civilian killed in Gaza City, mosque destroyed in Rafah as Israel intensifies attacks

By Hosni Nedim

GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - Israeli airstrikes on Sunday killed one Palestinian and injured several others in Gaza City, while another airstrike destroyed a mosque in Rafah, southern Gaza, according to medical sources.

Medical sources told Anadolu that one Palestinian was killed and multiple others were wounded in an airstrike targeting the Zeitoun neighborhood southeast of Gaza City.

In central Gaza, the death toll from an earlier airstrike on the Abu Dalal family home in Nuseirat refugee camp rose to eight, with additional injuries reported. Late Saturday, six Palestinians were initially reported dead in the strike on the Abu Dalal home.

Since Sunday morning, Nuseirat camp has witnessed intense artillery shelling and machine-gun fire from Israeli forces stationed northwest of the camp near the Netzarim corridor, eyewitnesses told Anadolu.

In the southern Gaza Strip, Israeli jets targeted al-Ribat Mosque in the al-Mawasi area in Rafah, though casualty details from the strike were not immediately available.

Meanwhile, reports indicated that Israeli tanks opened heavy fire east of the town of al-Jadida, near Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Israel has continued a brutal offensive on Gaza following a cross-border incursion by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

Nearly 42,200 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 98,300 injured, according to local health authorities.

The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of the Gaza Strip amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.

Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
