Israeli army arrests 9 Palestinians in West Bank raid

Israeli forces break into several houses in Dura town in Hebron

By Betul Yilmaz

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Israeli army rounded up nine Palestinians in a military raid in the West Bank city of Hebron on Monday, local media said.

The official news agency WAFA, citing security sources, said that the nine were taken into Israeli custody during a raid in the town of Dura.

Israeli forces broke into the houses of the detainees, searching and damaging properties, the sources said.

The Israeli army also raided the towns of Al-Dhahiriya, as-Samu, Beit Ummar, and some neighborhoods in Hebron, but there were no reports of arrests yet.

According to Palestinian figures, more than 17,000 people have been detained by the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza in October 2023.

At least 972 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,000 injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers across the occupied West Bank during the same period, the Health Ministry said.

The International Court of Justice declared last July that Israel’s longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
