JERUSALEM (AA) – The Israeli army attacked 10 targets belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon amid escalating tensions between the two sides, the military said on Tuesday.
A military statement said a weapons depot, military buildings, a rocket platform and a “hostile” infrastructure were destroyed in the attacks.
The army said a Hezbollah member was also killed in the attacks that targeted seven areas in southern Lebanon, without providing further details.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency earlier reported that one person was killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the town of Beit Leif.
Hezbollah confirmed that one of its members was killed in Beit Leif, without giving details about the circumstances of his death.
Lebanese media also reported Israeli artillery shelling in Wadi al-Asafir in southern Lebanon. No information was yet available about casualties or damage.
Fears have grown about a full-blown war between Israel and Hezbollah amid an exchange of cross-border attacks between the two sides.
At least 387 Hezbollah members have been killed since the outbreak of cross-border clashes with Israel on Oct. 8, 2023, according to an Anadolu tally.
The escalation comes against the backdrop of a deadly Israeli onslaught on Gaza, which has killed more than 39,300 people since last October, following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
