Israeli army bombs more Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon
Hezbollah group announces targeting of gatherings of Israeli soldiers in Lebanese-Israeli border areas
By Zein Khalil
JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army said Monday that its fighter jets struck more targets of the Hezbollah group in southern Lebanon.
In a statement, the army said it hit buildings and infrastructure used by Hezbollah in the town of Ayta al-Shaab, adding Israeli artillery also shelled areas near the town to foil planned attacks by the group against Israeli targets.
Hezbollah also attacked a gathering of Israeli soldiers in Al-Marj who were trying to install new spy equipment.
The group said earlier in a statement that its fighters attacked a deployment of Israeli soldiers in the vicinity of the Raheb military site with artillery shells.
Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of weapons fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.
The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year.
