RAMALLAH (AA) - The Israeli army detained a Palestinian teen Wednesday and injured two civilians, one by gunfire, in Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank, witnesses told Anadolu.

They said a military force stormed neighborhoods which led to fighting with dozens of Palestinians.

The force detained Sami Antar, 15, before withdrawing, witnesses added.

The Israeli army also raided the town of Bayt Furik in eastern Nablus, amid confrontations with dozens of Palestinians, resulting in one person being injured by live fire, according to sources.

One person was shot in the hand and dozens suffered tear gas inhalation, Anadolu reported, citing unnamed Palestinian medical sources.

Witnesses said Israeli forces used live bullets and tear gas, while youths pelted the forces with stones.

Earlier Wednesday, the Palestinian Prisoners Society said the Israeli army detained at least 40 citizens Wednesday and 90 citizens during the Eid al-Adha holidays, bringing the number of detainees in the West Bank since Oct. 7 to 9,280.

Tensions have been high across the occupied West Bank since Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip which has killed nearly 37,400 victims following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, on Oct. 7.

At least 548 Palestinians have since been killed and nearly 5,200 injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied West Bank.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which in an interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
