JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army said Friday that it identified a drone and three rockets fired from Lebanon as Hezbollah targeted several border Israeli military sites.
“Following the sirens that sounded in the upper Galilee area, a suspicious aerial target was identified crossing from Lebanese territory and falling in the area. No injuries were reported,” the army said in a statement.
The statement added that the sirens in the Misgav Am area were activated due to the interception of two projectiles launched from Lebanon, with no injuries reported.
“Following the siren that sounded a short while ago in the area of Snir, one projectile was identified crossing from Lebanon and falling in an open area. No injuries were reported,” the statement added.
Earlier in the day, Israel announced that 20 rockets were fired from Lebanon toward the city of Safed in the north during the night hours, while firefighting teams were working to extinguish a blaze in the Birya area following a rocket strike.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah said in a statement that it targeted with drones Israel’s Filon base, the headquarters of the 210th Division, and its storage facilities in northern Israel.
The group also said it launched multiple Katyusha rockets at the main air defense base under the command of Israel's northern region, hitting the Birya barracks directly and setting parts of them on fire.
Earlier, Hezbollah also reported that its fighters targeted Israeli military positions along the Lebanese border, including Marj, Bayad Blida, and the Zebdine barracks in the occupied Shebaa Farms, using rocket weaponry.
Lebanon's National News Agency said Israeli warplanes conducted two airstrikes at dawn on the southern city of Bint Jbeil. The first strike hit a house, while the second targeted a valley area.
The ambulance and civil defense teams immediately rushed to the scene, but no casualties were immediately reported.
Tensions have spiked along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv presses ahead with an offensive against the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 41,100 people since last October following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
