Israeli army reports intercepting drones above northern Israel, sparking fire in Shlomi settlement

Origin of drones not specified, with no injuries reported

JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army said late Wednesday that it intercepted two drones in the Western Galilee region that caused a fire in the northern settlement of Shlomi because of falling debris.

The drones were shot down by the Israeli Air Force, leading to the blaze, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.

Channel 12 reported that one drone crashed in the Shlomi area, igniting the fire.

The army activated sirens earlier in several northern locations, including Shlomi, Betzet Beach, Rosh HaNikra, the Ma’ale Yosef Industrial Zone, Liman and Metzuba in response to the incoming drones.

Israeli media did not specify the origin of the drones, leaving the launch point unclear. No injuries have been reported.

Regional tensions have escalated due to Israel’s brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 42,400 people, mostly women and children, following a Hamas attack last year.

The conflict has spread to Lebanon, with Israel launching deadly strikes across that country, which have killed more than 1,500 people and injured over 4,500 since late last month.
