The Israeli army announced Friday that a soldier was seriously wounded and two others slightly wounded during fighting with Palestinian fighters in the southern Gaza Strip.
Israeli media, including the Times of Israel, cited a military statement that said the soldier from the 205th Reserve Armored Brigade, was hit by RPG (rocket propelled grenade) fire in Rafah's Tel Al-Sultan neighborhood.
Two other soldiers were slightly wounded in the same incident, the statement added.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said earlier the army is engaging in intense fighting in Gaza, noting that there are "heavy prices."
The Israeli army resumed its assault on Gaza on March 18, shattering a Jan. 19 ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
Israel has killed more than 51,400 Palestinians in the enclave since October 2023, most of them women and children.
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
