Military figures show at least 557 soldiers killed, 2,797 injured since Oct. 7

JERUSALEM (AA) – The Israeli army said Tuesday that 26 soldiers had been injured in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours.
Figures released by the military showed that at least 557 soldiers have been killed and 2,797 others injured since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict on Oct. 7.
Israel has launched a deadly offensive on the Palestinian enclave following a surprise attack by the resistance group Hamas, killing at least 26,751 people and injuring 65,636 others. Israeli authorities say nearly 1,200 Israelis have been killed in the Hamas attack.
Last week, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) found South Africa's claim that Israel is committing genocide plausible. The court issued an interim order urging Israel to stop obstructing aid deliveries into Gaza and to improve the humanitarian situation.
The Israeli offensive has left 85% of Gaza’s population internally displaced amid acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure was damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
