JERUSALEM (AA) - At least 35 rockets were launched from Lebanon targeting Haifa Bay and northern Israel, the Israeli army said on Monday.

“Following the sirens that sounded in the Western Galilee and Upper Galilee areas, approximately 30 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory,” the Israeli army said in a statement.

Sirens sounded multiple times in Haifa, Akko, and towns across the Western and Upper Galilee, it added.

“Some of the projectiles were intercepted. Fallen projectiles were identified in the area,” the army said.

In a separate statement, the army said following sirens in the areas of Upper Galilee and Haifa Bay, approximately five projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory.

No casualties were reported, and some rockets were intercepted while others fell in open areas, it added.

Israel has mounted a massive air campaign in Lebanon since last month against what it claims are Hezbollah targets in an escalation from a year of cross-border warfare between Israel and the group since the start of Israel’s brutal offensive on Gaza.

Over 2,670 people have been killed and nearly 12,500 injured in Israeli attacks since October last year, according to Lebanese health authorities.

Israel expanded the conflict on Oct. 1 by launching a ground assault into southern Lebanon.
