Israeli army says it struck dozens of Hezbollah targets in Lebanon

No immediate response from Hezbollah on Israeli claims

By Abdelraouf Arnaout

JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army said on Friday that over a span of two hours, its fighter jets attacked dozens of targets in Lebanon reportedly “belonging to Hezbollah.”

In a statement, the Israeli army said its “air force jets targeted several rocket launchers in the village of Hadatha, southern Lebanon, which were used earlier today to fire shells towards the Tiberias region."

The army also reported that “in the last two hours, warplanes attacked dozens of weapons depots, rocket launch platforms aimed at Israel, and military buildings in Sidon, Nabatieh, and several other locations in southern Lebanon."

The Israeli army confirmed it would continue to strike more targets in Lebanon, though Hezbollah has not issued an immediate response to the attacks.

Israel has pounded Lebanon since Monday morning, killing over 700 people and injuring nearly 2,200 others, according to figures released by the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in cross-border warfare since the start of Israel's war on Gaza, which has killed more than 41,500 people, mostly women and children, following a cross-border attack by Hamas last Oct. 7.

The international community has warned against the strikes on Lebanon, as they raise the specter of turning the Gaza conflict into a regional war.
