Israeli army says several rockets fell in Upper Galilee region

No casualties reported, according to army statement

By Zein Khalil

JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army on Saturday said that it intercepted two rockets launched from Lebanon toward the Zarit area in the Upper Galilee region, while several others landed in the same area.

In a statement, the army said that several rockets were fired from Lebanon at Zarit, setting off sirens in the area.

"Of these, two were successfully intercepted by air defense fighters," it said, adding that the remaining rockets landed in the area.

No casualties were reported, the army added.

The army said it responded with artillery fire targeting the sources of the launch.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Hezbollah said in a statement that its fighters targeted the Zarit barracks with artillery shells and achieved a “direct hit.”

Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006.

The border tension comes amid an Israeli military onslaught in the Gaza Strip that has killed over 36,800 people since a major attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas on Oct. 7.
