Israeli army strikes 250 targets in Gaza over past day
Army says intensive battles with aerial support taking place against Palestinian fighters in Gaza
By Anadolu staff
JERUSALEM (AA) - The Israeli army said Wednesday it struck around 250 targets across the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours.
“Army troops are continuing to locate weapons, underground shafts, explosives and additional military infrastructure," a military statement said.
The army said "intensive battles along with aerial support" were taking place against Palestinian fighters in the Gaza Strip.
On Tuesday, Palestinian group Hamas claimed to have killed 10 Israeli soldiers at “point-blank range” in eastern Khan Younis.
The group said its fighters also struck three Israeli tanks, two personnel carriers and three military bulldozers with anti-armor shells in the city.
Israel resumed its military offensive on the Palestinian territory on Friday after the end of a weeklong humanitarian pause with the Palestinian group Hamas.
At least 16,248 Palestinians have been killed and more than 43,616 others injured in relentless air and ground attacks on the enclave since Oct. 7 following a cross-border attack by Hamas.
The Israeli death toll in the Hamas attack stood at 1,200, according to official figures.
