Israeli army strikes Hezbollah targets in Lebanon
Army claims it targeted military infrastructure, buildings
By Said Amori
JERUSALEM (AA) – The Israeli army on Thursday claimed that it attacked a military site, infrastructure, and military buildings affiliated with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
In a statement, the army stated it “attacked several targets belonging to the Hezbollah on Lebanese territory through fighter jets and artillery fire.”
The statement added that in the areas of Kiryat Shmona and Margaliot, approximately 10 rockets fired from Lebanese territory were detected, and three were intercepted.
In response, the army attacked the sources of the fire, it added.
Earlier on Thursday, three Lebanese citizens were wounded in an Israeli airstrike targeting a health facility affiliated with Hezbollah in the town of Hanine in the southern part of the country, according to Lebanon’s national news agency.
Tensions have escalated along Lebanon’s border with Israel since the Israeli army launched a deadly military offensive on the Gaza Strip following Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack, amid an exchange of cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces.
The clashes between them are the deadliest since the two sides had fought a full-scale war in 2006.
