Israeli gunfire martyrs Palestinian in West Bank

RAMALLAH (AA) - A Palestinian youth was martyred and another one injured Wednesday morning by Israeli gunfire in northern West Bank for allegedly attempting a stabbing attack.

In a statement, the Israeli army claimed that an attempted stabbing took place near the Hawara checkpoint in northern West Bank, without giving further information.

Palestinian medical sources told Anadolu Agency that they referred one of the injured to hospital for treatment, while the other was left bleeding at the scene before his death was announced by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.

The Israeli army banned the medical staff from transferring the young people who later succumbed to wounds to receive treatment, the medical sources added.

Meanwhile, eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency that an Israeli settler fired directly at the two Palestinian youths.
