Israeli Air Force says earlier that it intercepted two drones launched from Iran overnight

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Israeli military launched a new wave of strikes on the Iranian capital Tehran and other parts of the country Thursday.

Earlier, the Israeli Air Force said it intercepted a drone launched from Iran overnight which triggered air raid sirens in several areas of northern Israel.

A second drone was intercepted shortly after in the Jordan Valley, it said on X.

Regional tensions have escalated since Friday, when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.

Israeli authorities said at least 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured since then in Iranian missile attacks.

Meanwhile, in Iran, 585 people have been killed and more than 1,300 wounded in the Israeli assault, according to Iranian media reports.
